Shoulder Pain and Frozen Shoulder
Treatment in Springwood
A shoulder that won’t cooperate makes almost everything harder. Reaching overhead, getting dressed, sleeping on your side, or swinging a racket can all become uncomfortable or simply out of reach when the shoulder is not moving as it should.
When the Shoulder Joint Stops Moving Freely
Shoulder pain has several common sources, including rotator cuff tears, tendinitis, and arthritis of the shoulder joint.
Frozen shoulder is a distinct condition that develops when the connective tissue surrounding the shoulder joint becomes thickened and tight, reducing range of motion and contributing to ongoing inflammation and stiffness. It often follows a shoulder injury or a period of reduced movement, and may progress over time. Frozen shoulder is more common in women and tends to develop gradually.
What Frozen Shoulder Feels Like
The most obvious sign is a significant loss of shoulder range of motion. Raising the arm out to the side may become painful well before it reaches shoulder height.
Many people also notice upper shoulder pain, neck tension, and even headaches as surrounding muscles work harder to compensate for reduced joint movement.
Supporting the Shoulder With Chiropractic and Massage
At Cactus Chiropractic Lifestyle Centre, chiropractic care aims to improve movement in the spinal joints of the neck and upper back, which can influence how the shoulder moves and feels. Where the shoulder joint itself has stiffened, improving spinal movement may help reduce compensatory strain on surrounding tissues.
Remedial massage may complement this by targeting the muscles and soft tissue supporting the shoulder, helping to reduce tension and support more comfortable movement.
